All sorts of stories about bigfoot, vampires and other chupacabra actually turn out to be a joke or a fake. But there are exceptions
In the middle of the last century, American children were frightened by a green man: if you don’t obey, he will come, take you away and devour you. But this seemingly stupid legend has a real basis. Raymond Robinson from Pennsylvania is a very real person. The child was born in 1910 normal, grew and developed like all babies. Went to school, enjoyed ordinary things. But everything changed 9 years later.
The city of Koppel, where the boy lived, was small, but quite comfortable. And somehow, walking around the neighborhood with a friend, Ray thought about the fact that it would be nice to see how bird nests are arranged. And there were a lot of birds in the area. He chose a willow to study and boldly began to climb a tree. But then the foot of the young naturalist slipped, and he automatically grabbed the wire of the trolleybus line. Blow, pain and oblivion.
The young naturalist had to pay dearly for his curiosity and carelessness: the boy lost his eyes, nose, part of his ear, and his arm. The face resembled a cratered lunar surface and looked terrifying. There was no talk of any plastic at that time. He remained alive - and thank fate. Moreover, the same curious boy has already died in the same place in a year. It is clear that the school had to be forgotten. Parents, who supported their son in every possible way, insisted on obtaining a specialty that would feed Ray in the future. The boy learned to make leather goods - belts, wallets. There was a demand for them, and the money became a good help for a poor family.
It is clear that because of the repulsive appearance, the guy had a complex and did not go out into the street during the daytime. But then he began to take close, and later longer, walks around the neighborhood. Gently tapping the road with a cane for the blind, the man in the olive jacket has become a kind of local landmark.During evening walks, the dim lamplight falling on the skin gave it some otherworldly greenish tint. Thus was born the legend of the green man. The locals called him Charlie without a face. The fame of him spread throughout the country, and people specially came here to see the faceless green. Of course, the main part of the cripple was friendly, but there were also malicious ridicule.
Charlie gradually grew old without a face and appeared less and less on the street. But this did not stop the popularity of the image. Robinson spent his last years in a nursing home and died quietly in 1985 at the age of 75.
The story of the green man undertook to film director Tisha York. But the premiere of the picture, in which, in addition to the actors, ordinary people who personally knew Ray also participated, was canceled first for technical reasons, and then because of the pandemic. But in any case, this man has already gone down in history. And as a revived urban legend, and as an example of perseverance and unbroken spirit. After all, Ray did not become embittered after a tragic accident, did not climb into a bottle, did not lay hands on himself, but lived his life as worthily as healthy people do not live it now.
